YOUTUBE VIDEO HOSTING AS A MODERN SOURCE OF INFORMATION: MULTIMEDIA FEATURES AND IMPACT ON NEWS CONTENT

The thesis focuses on the role of YouTube as a modern source of information that transforms the way we consume news in the digital age. The multimedia features of the platform are analysed, including the combination of text, video, sound and interactive elements that contribute to deeper audience engagement. Particular attention is paid to the impact of YouTube on news content in Ukraine after the start of the full-scale invasion in 2022, where the platform has become a tool for prompt information, refuting disinformation and maintaining information security. The importance of media literacy is emphasised to avoid manipulation and the risks of a ‘filter bubble’. The theses confirm the potential of YouTube for the development of professional and civic journalism.
