“LIVING GENOGRAM” AS A TOOL FOR WORKING WITH THE FAMILY SYSTEM

The thesis discusses one of the possible ways to apply the genogram as a method for exploring the family system. In systemic family psychology, a genogram is a method that uses graphic representations to study the functioning of previous generations within the client’s family system. The “Living Genogram” is a method that uses figurines to visually represent the extended family system and, on this basis, to analyze the relationships within it. The methodological foundation for developing this method was F. Kaslow’s research on the projective genogram. The “Living Genogram” combines the method of figurine-based constellations with the use of the projective genogram to explore ancestral patterns. The thesis outlines the stages of working with this type of genogram, its specific applications, and the advantages of using it.
