PSYCHOLOGICAL STRUCTURE OF PERFECTIONISM

The thesis presents an analysis of the psychological structure of the phenomenon of perfectionism. Perfectionism is a person’s desire for perfection, which is expressed in the tendency to set excessively high standards. Scientists have considered perfectionism as a mental orientation, in particular as a compensatory striving for superiority and perfection; a quality of narcissistic pathology; as a person’s tendency to set excessively high standards. Also, perfectionism is interpreted as a negative phenomenon: pathological, destructive, “unhealthy”, non-adaptive; and positive - “healthy” perfectionism, adaptive, constructive, etc. Based on various psychological approaches, the structure of over-perfectionism as a multidimensional construct with its own parameters is analyzed.
