This abstract focuses on the impact of obesity on the process of functional recovery in women following myocardial infarction. Women with obesity are less likely to participate in cardiac rehabilitation programs, have lower tolerance for physical exertion, and show reduced achievement of functional goals. These findings are supported by evidence of smaller increases in ejection fraction and more frequent complaints of pain and dyspnea during exercise. Effective recovery in this patient group requires a comprehensive, individualized approach that includes lifestyle modification, pharmacological management of comorbidities, psychological support, and the elimination of gender bias within the healthcare system.
