AGEISM AS A FORM OF AGE DISCRIMINATION: HISTORICAL REVIEW AND CURRENT REALITIES

Abstract

Theses present a theoretical and methodological analysis of ageism as a broad form of discrimination that is based on age-old stereotypes and advances. The history of the evolution of ageist phenomena and their influx into the formation of the common thought among various age groups of the population is examined. Analysis of historical literature allows us to understand the origins and expansion of age-old stereotypes that formed the basis of current manifestations of ageism, changes in marriage throughout history implied a re-interpretation of the phenomenon of ageism. different categories. Ageism is characterized as a form of social inequality that leads to the limitation of capabilities, social isolation and a decrease in the quality of life of people of a young age, regardless of their individual qualities, to the fullest potential. It is agreed that ageism manifests itself both in negative stereotypes of older people and in discriminatory practices of 100-year-old people. The current realities of ageism are revealed in various spheres of life, including the healthcare market, health care and lighting. The importance of critically understanding age-old stereotypes and developing effective strategies to combat ageism at various social levels is emphasized.
