PHILOSOPHICAL AND SOCIOLOGICAL VIEWS OF KARL KORSCH AS ONE OF THE FOUNDERS OF «WESTERN MARXISM»

The theses represent an attempt at a theoretical and methodological analysis of the creative legacy of the German social philosopher Karl Korsch. A brief comparative analysis of the Soviet version of Marxism and the so-called «Western Marxism» is presented in the context of Korsch’s work. The author examines the main milestones of the German political theorist’s life path through the lens of the evolution of his ideas. Korsch’s key critical remarks regarding Soviet Marxism and Soviet revolutionary practice are outlined. Additionally, the later stage of Korsch’s work is analyzed, and an attempt is made to evaluate the historical significance of the German thinker’s scholarly legacy.
