Abstract

The theses present an analysis of Turkey’s security policy during the period of active global and regional changes. The main directions of the security policy of the Republic of Turkey are determined: strengthening the defense sector, strengthening the state at the regional level and maintaining positions at the world level. The main global (confrontation of Western and Eastern security concepts, conflict between the Muslim and Christian worlds) and regional («Kurdish» issue, civil conflicts in neighboring countries, activity of radical Islamists) security challenges are highlighted. It is emphasized that Turkey implements foreign security policy at two levels - global and regional, guided primarily by the protection of its own national interests. In the future, it can be expected that the priority for the Turkish authorities will remain domestic interests, as well as intensification of relations with key global actors (the EU and NATO), expansion of cooperation with Middle Eastern countries, and the search for promising areas of cooperation with new actors.
