POLITICAL AND LEGAL MECHANISMS OF NATIONAL AND ETHNIC DEVELOPMENT IN UKRAINE

The materials present an analysis of current trends in the development of Ukraine's ethnic policy, which are determined by the need to ensure a balance between integration processes and the preservation of ethnic and cultural diversity. It has been established that mechanisms for the legal regulation of state ethnic policy, educational and cultural programmes, and measures in the field of national security are of particular importance. It is emphasised that in order to strengthen political and legal mechanisms, it is necessary not only to update the legislative and institutional framework, but also to form a new culture of interethnic interaction based on mutual respect, tolerance and integration without assimilation.
