The thesis reveals the phenomenon of betrayal as a socio-psychological phenomenon. It has been found that betrayal is a process that takes place in a couple, but affects many people: both partners, the people with whom they cheated, friends and relatives who remain close and have to take sides. The author reveals that women and men do not cheat on their partners without a reason - there must be a reason for this. The psychological factors of betrayal in situations of military conflicts are identified. Among the reasons for betrayal in conditions of war and uncertainty are the following: betrayal as a conscious step; betrayal as an escape from reality; betrayal as revenge; betrayal as a way of self-assertion; betrayal as a norm; betrayal as a way of resolving intrapersonal conflicts; betrayal as a way to overcome loneliness when children have long flown out of the nest; betrayal as a lack of reciprocity and the search for a new love experience.
