THE IMPACT OF THE CULTURAL TRAUMA OF WAR ON THE PSYCHO-EMOTIONAL STATE OF THE PERSONALITY

The scientific thesis examines the impact of the cultural trauma of war on the psycho-emotional state of the personality amid the ongoing military conflict in Ukraine. Cultural trauma is defined as a shared historical experience of collective suffering transmitted through social narratives, symbols, memory, and intergenerational communication. The aim of the study is to identify the relationship between the experience of war as an element of cultural trauma and the levels of stress, anxiety, and depression among the adult population. The study employed the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10), the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) by Spielberger–Khanin, and T. Balashova’s Depression Scale. The results confirm statistically significant correlations between psycho-emotional indicators and the experience of war as a shared traumatic event. The findings underscore the importance of incorporating cultural context into psychological support, the development of mental health programs, and assistance for those affected.
