VARIABILITY OF MORPHOMETRIC PARAMETERS OF NAKASEOMYCES GLABRATUS, A COMPONENT OF THE MUCOSAL MICROBIOME

Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the variability of quantitative parameters of vegetative cells (blastoconidia) of Nakaseomyces  glabratus (H.W. Anderson) Sugita & M. Takash. – non-dimorphic yeast, a component of the normal flora of the human body. The materials of the work were a pure culture of N. glabratus, isolated from the oral mucosa of a healthy person. Biological samples were cultivated at 37°C on Chromogenic Candida Agar (CCA), the preparation of micropreparations was carried out according to the generally accepted method of microbiological research with physical fixation and subsequent Gram staining. For measurements using an eyepiece micrometer, 25 cells were selected in each preparation by random sampling, microscopy and measurement of cells were carried out at a magnification of 16×90 using immersion; in total, the parameters of 50 cells were biometrically processed. The data obtained is biometrically calculated. As a result of our studies, when cultivating N. glabratus on CCA nutrient medium, linear morphological parameters (length and width) of cells were established, varying within the limits of (2)3 – 4(5) µ, × (1)2 – 3(4) µ. The obtained indicators correspond to the species norm, but, in comparison with the above literature data, a slight deviation of the length parameter up to 5 µ was noted. The prospects for further research are a comparative study of the level of variability of morphometric characteristics of N. glabratus cells in the conditions of primary culture and during subculture.
